Even though rail is one of the more recent industries SMF supports, it is quickly becoming a pillar in our portfolio. SMF most commonly produces frames & machined weldments for equipment that carries out railway track maintenance and construction. SMF’s heavy fabrication capacity has allowed us to thrive in an industry where massive frames are the norm. SMF currently produces frames that are over 40’ long, 13’ wide, and weigh more than 23,000lbs. These frames are not only large, but they also include hundreds of complex component pieces with highly specific dimensional requirements.
