Reshape Metal with SMF’s Machining Services

SMF’s dedication to fabrication and machining has set us apart from the competition. We routinely machine both component parts as well as welded assemblies. We also differ ourselves by machining in-house, designing tooling & fixturing. SMF can easily handle your most significant projects, with the ability to mill parts more than 30′ long and 9′ wide.

Our Machining Operations

SMF utilizes the following CNC machining operations to produce parts with the highest precision:

  • Milling – Through vertical mills and horizontal mills, we use rotary cutters to shape the workpiece. This is one of our more commonly used machining methods.
  • Turning – While rotating your workpiece, we work it against the edge of a cutting tool. This process helps to slowly remove material while keeping metal firmly in place.
  • Drilling – Using a rotating cutter, we create new holes or refine existing holes in a workpiece.
  • Boring – Similar to drilling, boring is a reliable method for enlarging and finishing pre-existing holds in a workpiece.

The Materials We Use

Machining isn’t restricted to only a few types of metals. We manage various projects, using the best materials for the job. From creating equipment for electrical connections to shaping parts/tools, our machining operation manages metals such as:

  • Aluminum – Lightweight and inexpensive
  • Brass – Affordable material option
  • Stainless Steel – Durable and long-lasting
  • Titanium – Strong, lightweight, and resistant to corrosion
  • Copper – Best for creating electrical connections
  • Various Plastics – Affordable and non-conductive
  • And More
